The project was implemented in the Nurabad District of the Samarkand Region as part of the preparation for the construction of the Tutli-2 Solar PV Plant. The scope of work was aimed at a comprehensive assessment of the site’s hydrological and hydrometeorological conditions to ensure its safety and long-term operational stability.
Project Objective
The main objective of the project was to carry out comprehensive hydrological studies of the Tutli-2 Solar PV Plant site, including the assessment of potential water-related impacts and climate risks.
The following tasks were performed:
-
hydrological investigations of the territory;
-
hydraulic modeling of water flows;
-
preparation of flood hazard maps;
-
analysis of climate factor impacts on the site.
Scope of Work
1. Detailed Hydrological Investigations of the Site
An analysis was conducted of existing watercourses, surface runoff, flood characteristics, and seasonal water regime dynamics. Potential sources of flooding and water accumulation were identified and assessed.
2. Hydraulic Modeling Considering Site Topography
Based on a digital terrain model, water flow simulations were performed under various flood and extreme rainfall scenarios. This enabled the identification of the most vulnerable areas within the site.
3. Preparation of Flood Hazard and Risk Maps
Flood maps were developed for design water levels, including extreme hydrometeorological events. Risk zones requiring engineering protection measures or adjustments to design solutions were identified.
4. Assessment of Climate Impacts on Water Regimes
Regional climate data were analyzed, taking into account possible changes in precipitation intensity and temperature patterns. Their impact on runoff formation and flood probability was evaluated.
5. Assessment of Site Resilience to Adverse Hydrometeorological Conditions
A comprehensive evaluation of the site’s resilience to extreme weather events, including heavy rainfall and flooding, was conducted. Recommendations were developed to minimize potential risks.
Project Outcome
The completed studies provided a sound basis for engineering design decisions and confirmed the feasibility of safe project implementation, subject to the recommended mitigation measures.
The results formed the foundation for flood protection measures and ensured the reliable operation of the Tutli-2 Solar PV Plant.
